Amended Court Rule provides greater access to cameras in the Courtroom

The new year ushers in a change to the Minnesota General Rules of Practice, granting state judges additional discretion to allow the audio and visual recording and live streaming of many court proceedings. These amendments, issued by the Minnesota Supreme Court last year, provide the opportunity for greater transparency in the work of our courts, helping Minnesotans understand both how our government works and the impact the courts have on their lives. Justice Procaccini serves as the Supreme Court’s liaison to the Advisory Committee for the Minnesota General Rules of Practice, which evaluates and recommends changes to the rules. As the courts implement the amended rule, Justice Procaccini will remain engaged with his fellow judges and communities throughout Minnesota to ensure that we are increasing transparency and maintaining integrity in our justice system.
